Learn to Stitch the Golden Mandala Earrings | Fusion Beads

Hi. Welcome to Fusion Beads! Today we’re gonna make the Golden Mandala Earrings. This is a really fun earring that you make with just a circular stitch using a Czech SuperDuo 2 Hole seed beads and some 2 millimeter Fire Polished. For this project we’re going to be using the SuperDuo seed beads. And they are a Czech two hole seed beads. And we’re going to be using them in the Aztec Gold and a Transparent Aqua with a Picasso
finish. And then we’re also using True2 Fire Polished beads. And these are in
the Crystal Full Amber color. And they’re etched so they’ve got a little bit of a texture to them. We’re going to top our earring off with a Gold Filled French Hoop ear wire. And we’re also using some of the 6 lb FireLine thread. And I originally made these earrings using the Crystal Clear FireLine Thread but today, for our video, I’m going to show you how to make it with the Smoke. So that you can see my thread path a little bit easier. So let’s get started. Okay. Let’s get started. I’m just gonna move one of those out of the way. So for our first step I’ve pre-threaded my needle and thread. And we’re going to go ahead and we’re going to pick up 6 of our Aztec Gold SuperDuo seed beads. Now I’ve already gone through these. And you’ll want to do this at home when you’re making this too. Just to make sure that both holes of these beads are clear. Sometimes in the coating process when they’re making these fabulous colors they coat over one of the holes. So you just want to make sure that all of your holes are open and clear. You don’t want to have to worry about that as you’re going along. So we’ve strung up 6 beads and we’re gonna string them down to our tail of our thread. And leave about a 6 inch piece of tail there. And we’re just going to string right back through all 6 of these seed beads. And that will make a nice loop almost like a little daisy with our SuperDuos. To really secure this we’re just going to tie a square knot. There. And that will make it a nice tight circle to start our earring off. And we’re going to embellish the center of the circle with one of our 2 millimeter Etched Fire Polished beads. So we’re just going to pick up a Fire Polished bead. We’re going to count over 3 beads and we’re going to string back through those 3 beads coming back to the start. And then we’ll reinforce it and string back the other way. So I’m just gonna go through. Since these have a curve as they’re going through sometimes it’s easier just to go through one bead at a time. Place that Fire Polished right there in the center. And then keep on working our way back to where we started. And that just kind of puts a little bead in the hole there. And then we’re going to just go ahead and reinforce that by going back through the bead. And we’ll go back down the other side. Back to that starting point again. Make sure to go through the right hole. Okay. Okay! Now we need to step up to our next row. So to turn and go up to the next row we just go from the bead that we’re coming out of and we turn and we go through that next, that 2nd hole of the bead. And now we’re going to be working in a counterclockwise motion here. For our second row we’re going to pick up 2 of the Aqua Picasso SuperDuos. And go through the top hole of the next bead over. And we’ll do that all the way around this row. And so we started our first row with 6 beads. And we’ll do this row will end with 12 beads. And I’m just pulling them nice and tight. And getting them to sit in each of those spots and fan out. And this is the
last one for this row. So I’m going to go through the Aztec Gold and I’m going to go through the first hole of that first Aqua Picasso SuperDuo that I went through. And now we’ve done 2 rows. So I’m going to step up again by turning and going through the second hole of that 1st bead from the second round. And for this next row we’re going to go ahead and pick up 1 Aqua Picasso SuperDuo seed bead and go through the next bead. Just get it to sit nicely in there. And we’ll do this for this whole round. So I’m going to keep on working on this.
And I’ll be back in just a second. Okay. So I finished that third round of
SuperDuo seed beads. And I’m going to start my next one. So for our next round we’re going to pick up 2 of the Aztec Gold SuperDuo seed beads and go through the next hole. And we’ll work this way around the entire circle. And we’ll end up with a total of 24 of the Aztec Gold SuperDuo seed beads around this piece. So you pick up 2 and go through the next one over. I’m going to keep on working on that and I’ll be right back. Okay. So we’ve completed our final row of
SuperDuo seed beads for the large component for Golden Mandala earring. For the next final row what we’re going to do is we’re going to add 1 SuperDuo seed bead which will act as a connector between the large and the small component. And then we’re going to fill in the rest of the round with our Etched 2 millimeter Fire Polished beads. So to start I will pick up a SuperDuo seed bead and then for the rest of the round I’m just going to fill in with our 2 millimeter
Etched Full Amber Fire Polished. And that will fill in the rest of the round. So I’m going to continue to work on this all the way around. You do the same and
we’ll be back in just a second. Okay. So I finished my final round adding a 2 millimeter Fire Polished in between each SuperDuo. And we’ve got our 1
SuperDuo on the outside that’s going to act as our connector. I’ve gone ahead and reinforced the whole row again. When you do that you want to go really slowly and carefully. These 2 millimeter Fire Polish are really small and kind of delicate so just be careful when you’re going through those a second time around. And I’ve gone ahead and trimmed off all my excess trim threads and stuff like that. So now we are going to start on our smaller component. For this one we’re just flipping the colors around. So we’re gonna start with our Aqua SuperDuo seed beads. We’re going to pick up 6 of these. And we’re gonna make that same center flower. Opps. I just went all the way through. I have a shorter piece of thread now. So this piece of thread is about 2 feet long. We’re again going to leave about a 6 inch tail there. We’re going to thread right back through all 6 of the seed beads and make that into a little circle. And again we’re going to tie a square knot. And make a little daisy component there. We’re going to pick up one of our 2 millimeter Etched Fire Polished and put that into the center again by stringing across and going back through 3 of the SuperDuos coming back to the original starting point. And stringing right back through it. And reinforcing that center and the
daisy centerpiece. There we go. Now we’re going to step up so that we can do our next round. This next round we’re going to use 2 Aztec Gold SuperDuo seed beads and stick them in each of the spots that are open on this round. So we’ll end up with 12 of these. Okay. And then we’re going to go through our Aqua Picasso and the 1st Aztec Gold from this round. And we’re going to turn and step up to the next round. For this round we’re going to go ahead and we’re going to add it all together. So we’re going to put our ear wire on and we’re going to connect our large component all in one step. So to do that
I like to put the component into one of the v-shaped slots versus one of the U-shaped slots. So I’m coming out of a U-shaped slot. I’m gonna go ahead and put on one of my 2 millimeter Fire Polished in that spot. And then I’m going to put pick up one 2 millimeter Fire Polished, 1 of my ear wire loops and another 2 millimeter Fire Polished.
And this is going to be the top of our earring. And I’m just gonna tighten that up. You can see that sitting in there. I’m gonna go ahead and put on another 2 millimeter Fire Polished. We’re gonna work our way down so that we’re coming out of this opposite V here. So we’re gonna put on 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 more of the 2 millimeter Fire Polished to get down to that opposite side where we’re going to connect our large component to our small component. Okay. So I’m on the opposite side now. I’m going to pick up one 2 millimeter Fire Polished. I’m going to go through the SuperDuo. Seed bead there and pick up one more 2
millimeter Fire Polish and go through the next SuperDuo in my first round. So you’ve got a 2 millimeter Fire Polished sitting on either side of that SuperDuo from your large component. And then we’re just going to keep on going around in our circle for our small component. Finish off this round with 4 more of these. And we’re all connected. So I’ve got my ear wire connected, got my small component complete and I’m connected to my large component down here on the bottom. To really finish this off I’m going to go ahead and I’m going to reinforce this final round on our small component 1 or 2 more times and tie off all of my threads. So I’m going to go do that and I’ll be right back. Okay. So I’ve gone ahead and I’ve reinforced my final round on the small component 2 more times, trimmed off and tied of all my threads and we’re set. Repeat that again for your 2nd earring and you’re set. I hope you enjoyed making these Golden Mandala Earrings. You can find this video and many more at FusionBeads.com.
